Interested in having your child baptized?

We are excited to witness the first moments of your child's relationship with Jesus and His Church, through the Sacrament of Baptism. It is the first step in allowing your child to belong to the family of God. Every Baptism is an occasion of great joy for us here at San Francisco Solano! This is a beautiful public Rite that we celebrate each month. The Sacrament of Baptism process is broken down into four (4) steps.

It is important that you and your godparent(s) follow the first (2) steps carefully. STEP 1 documents need to be completed in their ENTIRETY from the godparent(s) before you as a parent, begin STEP 2 for the Baptism Registration

Before you enter the dropdown menu, the Four Steps are outlined below. If you as a parent, delegate and follow the steps correctly, it will set your family up for success and an enjoyable Baptism experience.

STEP 1: This important first step MUST be completed before any other step is attempted and is for the Godparent(s) ONLY. Once you have selected your Godparent(s), you as a parent, will direct them to this website and have them complete Step 1 in the dropdown menu below PRIOR to the Baptism Registration of your child in STEP 2. As a parent, you will need the FULLY EXECUTED Godparent form(s) in your possession. The two (2) required forms for Godparent(s) are the FULLY EXECUTED Godparent Affirmation Form and the Certificate of Completion from their online baptism course requirement.

STEP 2: Baptism Registration. As a parent, you could potentially have anywhere from three (3) to five (5) documents for the Registration upload. Please make sure that you have the FULLY EXECUTED documents uploaded to your computer BEFORE you start. They are as follows:

1.   Document 1: Your Child’s CERTIFICATE OF LIVE BIRTH in the state where he or she was born. This is a legal document from the State, not the hospital.

2.   Document 2: From Godparent #1: A FULLY EXECUTED Godparent Affirmation Form which MUST include: 1. The Godparent’s statements of affirmation/signatures et.al., 2. The Pastor signature and date, and 3. the official Church seal.

3.   Document 3: From Godparent #1: Certificate of Completion from their online baptism course requirement

Ideally, there should be a second Godparent with the same documents as Godparent #1.

STEP 3: Upon successful completion of STEP 2, you will be able to schedule the in-person Parent Baptism class at our campus in the lounge located at the end of the Parish Hall.

STEP 4: Upon successful completion of STEP 3, you will be able to schedule your child/children for the Baptism Day.

The steps for Baptism:

  • These are special people in your life who will help your child on their Catholic journey. Godparents are firm believers, fully initiated Catholics, above the age of 16 and (if selecting two) one male and one female.

Each godparent must complete the Godparent Affirmation Form and the Godparent Preparation Session and return it to you before you are able to complete Baptism Registration for your child.

  • Once you’ve selected godparents, and have their affirmation forms, Godparent Preparation Session certificate, and your child’s birth certificate handy, please complete this form for preparation for Baptism.

  • Once we receive your Baptism Registration form, you will receive an email from our Baptism team within a week, inviting you to attend a Baptism preparation class. These are typically held on the second Wednesday of the month, but you can find scheduled class dates by clicking here.
